Who are we?
The Monash University Surgical Interest Group (MUSIG) is an educational body that offers free membership to those studying medicine at Monash University. It is a sub-group of the Monash University Medical Undergraduates Society (MUMUS) and is strongly supported by the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.

MUSIG Aims:
  • To encourage students to consider surgery as a future vocation
  • To facilitate and maintain communication with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS)
  • To provide members with opportunities to interact and foster professional ties with experts in surgical fields
  • To publish and circulate periodicals, magazines and other publications which may be for the benefit of its members
  • To inform students about surgically-related educational opportunities outside of the MBBS curriculum
  • To provide a forum for discussion, advocacy and representation

Mission Statement
MUSIG aims to promote surgery as a career and facilitate the transition from medical student to prospective surgeon through information sessions, careers nights, development of surgical skills and building relationships with surgeons.

We have affiliation to, and strong support from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and the Monash University Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Health Science through MUMUS. We also have a large database of enthusiastic surgeons from the tops of their fields throughout Melbourne who are all more than willing to give up their time for MUSIG events.
